To better understand the impact of COVID19 in coastal communities, Fish Forever conducted two global surveys from June to August 2020 amongst 527 fishers and 70 Local Governments across six countries.
The surveys allowed us to gain insights about:
- The level of impact and causes of disruption of the pandemic on the lives of coastal stakeholders
- The coping strategies of fishers and the response of local governments
- The level of awareness regarding the availability of financing programs for the sector
- And the role of small-scale fisheries in the recovery process from the pandemic
